           Two maps showing the amount of wetlands lost in Jamaica Bay. Over 20,000 acres of New York City’s salt marshes were lost. Over 400,000 acres of salt marsh were lost nationwide. The top figure show salt marsh areas of Jamaica Bay in the 19th century. The bottom figure shows that amount of salt marsh present in Jamaica Bay in the 20th Century.
